Oslo - a Walking Day

What a welcome!

A quiet, lazy morning. I took a walk down to the shop for some milk. Beautiful park and church across the road from Mark and Jørgen's apartment.

They have a lovely, small apartment with a rooftop balcony...

..looking out over this...

It's a lovely outside room.

Mark skyped his parents at home in Inverloch. Then we set off for a long walk around Oslo. We started in the old part of town - lovely old quirky buildings.

Obviously a precious bike...

Through to the waterfall - akerselva - which is where Oslo started as the river and waterfall provided the energy for the textile factories. The factory girls are well known. They made a musical about it here.

And a little home where the lady who looked after the factory girls lived...

Along a lovely parkway...

They made student apartments out of an old silo building...

Through to a cute little market with lots of hand knits and crafts.

Jørgen left us to go to work and then the football and Mark and I continued around to the new development on the waterfront. It's going to be fantastic when it's finished.

And the new opera house...

It's more interesting inside...

I love this, with the coat racks for all the winter coats. They're numbered.

Then we stopped for a quick bite before walking back and gossiping more. Easy and relaxing day - with lots of walking!
