Eternal Flight

And so it begins - at the airport, waiting for three hours. So ready to sleep - which is good and hopefully will continue until we're onboard and it is sleep time.

A Bosnian woman came up and pointed at her passport to indicate she doesn't speak English and then at her boarding pass to see if she was in the right spot. I showed her my boarding pass that has the same flight details so if she was in the wrong spot, so was I. Now we're waiting together. Lots of smiles and nodding. She has absolutely no English at all.

Onto the plane.

There seems to be an abundance of children... One family of four booked two seats and were obviously planning on holding their young 'uns on their laps - for 14 hours?? Or they were planning to do what they did - sweet talk the hostess (what is the PC term??) into asking some guy who had two empty seats next to him and must have been planning a comfie kip into moving to another single seat and let them spread themselves out over five chairs. They do look comfortable so well played, I say.

The gentleman of the French couple next to me has had to get out a number of times. This is less annoying when he says please and thank you in his charming French accent! He also is either really hungry, wants to get his money's worth or it's a European thing as he's opening the tomato and peri peri dip and spooning it out, eating it straight. Did the same with the Philadelphia cheese packet.

Hate it when there's a little bit of turbulence and then the captain comes on to ask the crew to sit down and strap in - you know it's going to be very unpleasant for a while!!

It's not a pretty sight wandering up the back of a plane when everyone is in sleep mode....
And on the way back, you can see what people have chosen to watch - very varied selection.

I do love how they have speckled stars in the ceiling - you might look up and actually think you're outside! So many stars...

Why does the vegetarian breakfast meal have lentil burgers when everyone else is having scrambled eggs?? Where do they think we get our protein from?

Landing in Dubai and my Bosnian friend finds me to help her get to her boarding gate. Of course it's not on the departures board and we have to ask a number of different people. And off she goes and we smile and nod - again.

So now we sit and wait for the next one.....

An uneventful flight that was just one of things you have to get through! Until...
